Fleet & Facilities Manager

The Fleet and Facilities Manager at Ardent is responsible to oversee the performance, maintenance, and continuous improvement of fleet assets and commercial facilities across multiple operating companies. This is not a traditional administrative management role. We are looking for a hands-on, mechanically minded problem-solver who takes ownership, acts with urgency, and gets results without needing to be told what to do next. The successful candidate combines the practical knowledge of a mechanic or skilled tradesperson with the organizational, analytical, and communication skills of a manager. This role is currently vacant and is being filled due to a new position becoming available. WHAT YOU WILL DO Fleet & Equipment Management Oversee the performance, reliability, maintenance, and lifecycle of approximately 200 fleet and equipment assets Coordinate preventative maintenance, inspections, repairs, licensing, and compliance requirements Investigate recurring mechanical issues, identify root causes, and implement long-term solutions Assess repair recommendations and determine practical, cost-effective solutions Monitor fuel consumption, mileage, equipment usage, GPS data, and operating costs Identify opportunities to improve equipment performance, reduce downtime, and control costs Recommend equipment repairs, replacements, and future capital investments Facilities Management Oversee maintenance, repairs, renovations, and improvements across multiple commercial properties Conduct regular facility inspections to identify maintenance needs and potential issues before they become costly problems Manage contractors, project budgets, timelines, and quality of work Respond promptly to facility issues and take ownership of resolving them Ensure all facilities are safe, well-maintained, functional, and professional in appearance Identify opportunities to improve facility operations, efficiency, and cost management Vendor Management & Operational Improvement Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, suppliers, and service providers Hold vendors accountable for quality, timelines, and competitive pricing Review quotes, invoices, and repair recommendations to ensure value and accuracy Negotiate pricing, explore alternatives, and identify cost-saving opportunities Take a proactive, hands-on approach to solving problems and improving operations Provide leadership with practical recommendations and solutions to support informed business decisions WHAT YOU WILL NEED Strong mechanical aptitude with practical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Experience in fleet management, facilities maintenance, transportation, construction, heavy equipment, skilled trades, or a related field A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to identify issues, take ownership, and follow through Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities Sound judgment and the confidence to make decisions independently A cost-conscious mindset with the ability to identify efficiencies and opportunities for improvement Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across teams and operating companies Proficiency with technology, Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, and fleet management systems A valid driver's licence with a clean driving record WHAT WE OFFER Competitive compensation package Comprehensive benefits package, including a health spending account Profit sharing program RRSP / DPSP retirement savings program Employee Assistance Program…
