Job Description The Fleet and Facilities Manager is responsible for the management, maintenance, and optimization of the company’s physical assets, including its vehicle fleet and buildings, facilities, and infrastructure. This key position requires proactive asset management to ensure proper operation, safety, and compliance with applicable legal and environmental requirements. Key ResponsibilitiesFleet Management Planning and Coordination: Organize vehicle routes to maximize the efficiency of deliveries and transportation activities. Plan and coordinate routine maintenance and repairs to minimize unexpected vehicle downtime. Operations Supervision: Ensure that vehicles comply with regulatory requirements, including registration, mechanical inspections, and certifications. Ensure drivers are properly trained and supervised to promote safety and productivity. Performance Monitoring: Analyze operating costs, including fuel, maintenance, and repairs, and identify opportunities to reduce expenses. Monitor vehicles in real time using GPS tracking systems and respond appropriately in the event of an incident. Partner Relationships: Collaborate with carriers, insurance providers, and suppliers regarding the purchase or leasing of vehicles and equipment. Facilities Management Maintenance and Upkeep: Oversee maintenance activities and facility safety, schedule inspections, and ensure compliance with safety standards and legal requirements. Infrastructure and Operational Equipment Management: Optimize the use of available space, including warehouses, offices, and parking areas. Identify and coordinate improvement, renovation, or upgrade projects involving infrastructure and operational equipment. Supplier Management: Manage contracts with service providers and ensure that work assigned to contractors is completed on time and in accordance with established standards. Budget Management: Develop and manage budgets related to building maintenance and operations. Monitor expenses and identify opportunities to reduce operating costs. Communication and Reporting: Prepare regular reports on the condition and performance of the fleet and facilities. Communicate with management to anticipate investment requirements and operational issues, while ensuring effective communication between operational teams and other departments. Required Skills and Qualifications Fluency in French and English , both written and spoken (An asset) Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar position within the transportation industry. Knowledge of Canadian geography is considered an asset. Strong ability to communicate clearly and effectively with teams, suppliers, and clients. Ability to lead and motivate a team while making strategic decisions. Strong understanding of fleet management systems and building infrastructure . Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously. Ability to quickly identify issues and develop effective solutions.
