Tow Truck / Wrecker Operator – Matchett Towing & Recovery Pensacola / Gulf Breeze, FL Matchett Towing & Recovery serves Escambia and Santa Rosa counties, including Florida Highway Patrol rotation calls. We're looking for a dependable, safety-minded wrecker operator who takes pride in their work and wants to be part of a team that has each other's backs. Please read before applying: this is not a Monday–Friday, 9-to-5 job. Towing runs 24/7. All operators work rotating shifts that include nights, weekends, and on-call coverage . If you aren't able to cover nights and weekends as part of the rotation, this position is not a fit. What you'll do Respond to tow, recovery, and roadside calls, including law enforcement rotation calls Perform DOT pre-trip and post-trip inspections and routine preventative maintenance on your truck Provide professional, courteous service to customers, often on their worst day Accurately document vehicle condition, call details, and paperwork Keep assigned trucks and equipment clean, organized, and smoke-free What we're looking for Direct wrecker/tow operator experience strongly preferred A true team player who steps up when the call volume is high and covers for teammates when needed Ability to work independently with little supervision on calls Safety-first mindset in a fast-paced environment Strong attention to detail Requirements Valid Florida driver's license with a clean driving record Current DOT medical card (or ability to obtain one) Willingness to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and on-call Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen; random drug testing applies Physical demands Work outdoors in all conditions: heat, cold, rain, mud, and loud roadside environments Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, squatting, crawling, and walking Lift, push, pull, and carry heavy equipment such as chains, dollies, and wheel lifts Pay Commission plus tips Training All new hires complete ride-alongs with senior operators before being assigned their own truck and shift.
