Flatbed CDL Driver/General Laborer
Southwest Road & Safety Contractors***THIS IS NOT A DRIVING ONLY POSITION*** OUR TRUCKS ARE NOT BIG RIG TRUCKS - THEY ARE F750'S AND F450'S - SWRS Drivers are unique in that they not only drive material and crews to and from the job sites, they also work along side the crews performing installation, removals or repairs of highway safety products such as crash cushions, guard rail and signs. You must have and maintain a Class A driver’s license with a clean driving record and a current medical examiner's card. Job Duties Load and unload trucks and/or trailers: haul and hoist materials Ensure proper safety regulations and procedures are being followed, bringing any problems to the attention of the supervisor Work alongside crew on job sites and at the company yard. Drive Crew/ haul material to and from job site. Keep truck moving as needed, on job site Keep truck clean and organized, inside and out Provide daily inspections of vehicles and trailers used Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks & trailers Perform tasks involving manual labor for highway and heavy construction projects Operate a variety of hand tools and power tools Clean up rubble and debris, and remove waste materials Maintain a clean job site: Pick up all tools and equipment and secure job site each day to eliminate potential hazards Performs material handling and storage Job Specifications Have and maintain a Class A driver’s license with a clean driving record Ability to lift and carry heavy objects up to 80 LBS and have good stamina Ability to walk or stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous labor under adverse field conditions. Adaptability to a frequently changing and fast paced environment Must be able to work 40-60 hours per week, anywhere between 6-12 hour days- up to 6 days a week: Punctuality is required Must be able to adjust to varying work times- ranging from 5 AM to 7 PM Must be a team player with a positive attitude Ability to work near heavy equipment and in outside conditions that include inclement weather conditions not limited to heat, humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt. Under State mandate, qualified applicants must undergo E-Verify Screening. In addition, applicants must pass a drug and alcohol screening.
