Fixed-Route Dispatcher

Fixed-route Dispatchers assist in directing the movement of buses to provide safe, dependable, and efficient transportation. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing information to drivers regarding passengers, detours, road conditions, and weather reports; distributing and collecting driver paperwork; and other clerical tasks. The ability to communicate professionally on the phone with passengers and on a two-way radio with operators is essential. Fixed-route Dispatchers are represented by Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1249. Qualified applicants must: Possess high school diploma or equivalent Be at least 21 years of age Have a clean driving record Pass a pre-employment Department of Transportation alcohol and drug test and physical DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason Pass criminal background check Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance Pension plan through Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund Paid time off Free bus pass for employees and immediate family members
