A well-established global pharmaceutical and health-products organization with a meaningful U.S. presence and a broad portfolio across generic pharmaceuticals, biosimilars, specialty medicines, and consumer health products. The company operates in a highly regulated, data-driven environment where accuracy, controls, financial visibility, and cross-functional partnership are essential.
We are seeking an R&A Manager to lead the rebates and allowances function for the U.S. business. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional with strong pharmaceutical rebates, chargebacks, gross-to-net, deductions, accruals, and customer contract experience who is ready to step into a visible management role.
The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, highly accountable, and comfortable working across Finance, Accounting, Accounts Receivable, Government Pricing, Contracts, Sales, Commercial Operations, Internal Audit, and external auditors. This role is especially well suited for someone who understands that rebates and allowances are not just calculations, they are critical to financial accuracy, compliance, customer relationships, and business decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the rebates and allowances function, including customer rebates, discounts, allowances, deductions, accruals, and related financial activity.
- Supervise, train, and support rebate, deduction, or finance analysts, ensuring work is accurate, timely, well-documented, and aligned with department goals.
- Review and approve rebate calculations, customer claims, accrual schedules, deduction research, reconciliations, and related reporting.
- Interpret customer agreements, contract terms, pricing provisions, rebate structures, discount programs, and allowance terms to ensure accurate financial treatment.
- Oversee sales analysis to evaluate customer compliance with contractual terms and performance against rebate or incentive objectives.
- Partner with Finance and Accounting to maintain accurate accruals, support month-end close, and ensure proper financial reporting of rebate-related liabilities and expenses.
- Review monthly general ledger reconciliations related to rebates, allowances, deductions, and accrual accounts.
- Support P&L and balance sheet variance analysis, including commentary on rebate trends, customer activity, accrual movements, and financial exposure.
- Monitor aged customer deductions, coordinate with Accounts Receivable to resolve open items, and support timely clearing of unmatched deductions.
- Maintain rebate trackers, KPI reporting, dashboards, schedules, and management reporting tools.
- Provide rebate data and analytical support for internal audits, external audits, customer reviews, and prior-period claim reviews.
- Partner with Government Pricing to identify rebate, discount, allowance, or pricing items that may need to be included in government pricing calculations.
- Review system accuracy for products, pricing, customer terms, contract conditions, and rebate calculation logic.
- Identify and implement process improvements to strengthen accuracy, efficiency, controls, and visibility across the rebate function.
- Participate in special projects related to finance transformation, system enhancements, reporting improvements, audit readiness, contract analysis, and commercial operations support.
Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in pharmaceutical rebates, chargebacks, gross-to-net, finance, accounting, contracts, deductions, or revenue-related financial analysis.
- Prior supervisory or people management experience is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of pharmaceutical rebates, allowances, discounts, chargebacks, customer contracts, accruals, deductions, and gross-to-net concepts.
- Experience reviewing complex customer agreements and translating contract terms into accurate calculations, accruals, and reporting.
- Strong Excel skills required, including advanced formulas, pivot tables, data manipulation, reconciliations, and large data sets.
- Experience with ERP, rebate management, pricing, contract management, reporting, or financial systems preferred.
- Strong understanding of month-end close, GL reconciliations, accrual accounting, P&L analysis, balance sheet support, and variance commentary.
- Knowledge of government pricing concepts, pharmaceutical contracting, or compliance-sensitive pricing activity preferred.
- Strong analytical, communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and support a high-volume, detail-oriented finance function.
- High level of business ethics, confidentiality, ownership, and professional judgment.
Benefits - Competitive compensation ranging from $120,000 to $140,000, depending on experience
- Comprehensive medical insurance options
