This is a full time position with GNS Electric Inc.


The Field Operations Coordinator supports the Operations Manager by providing consistent field oversight across active projects. This role conducts regular jobsite walks, verifies progress against project plans and schedules, monitors labor and material performance, and collaborates closely with Project Managers and field leadership.

The Field Operations Coordinator functions as an early-warning system for the organization by identifying risks, gaps, inefficiencies, and cost drivers before they escalate into schedule delays or budget overruns. This position plays a critical role in promoting safe, efficient, and accountable field execution.


Key Responsibilities

Field Oversight and Job Walks

  • Conduct daily or scheduled jobsite walks across active projects
  • Verify completed work against project plans and schedules
  • Review current General Contractor schedules and compare them to baseline contract schedules
  • Confirm project compliance with the most recent GC schedule through field verification
  • When projects are not in compliance, coordinate with the General Superintendent and field leadership to support development of recovery schedules
  • Observe workmanship quality, site readiness, and crew productivity
  • Document field observations using photos and concise written notes
  • Confirm crews have required materials, tools, drawings, and information to perform assigned work

Budget and Cost Performance Support

  • Confirm Project Managers have established labor tracking metrics aligned with approved budgets
  • Review daily labor tracking reports from the field
  • Track labor usage and field conditions impacting job costs
  • Identify labor overruns, rework, inefficiencies, and productivity concerns early
  • Review hours expended versus percent complete with Project Managers
  • Recommend corrective actions to help maintain budget control
  • Identify and flag potential scope creep and change conditions

Coordination With Project Managers

  • Partner with Project Managers to support execution plans and field operations
  • Provide regular field status updates related to progress, constraints, and risks
  • Assist in validating field impacts related to scope changes, delays, or disruptions
  • Support project closeout readiness, punch list execution, and final field coordination

Issue Identification and Resolution

  • Identify material shortages, missing information, and trade conflicts
  • Escalate critical risks and issues promptly to the Operations Manager and Owner
  • Assist with practical, field-focused solutions to keep work progressing

Quality and Safety Support

  • Promote company quality standards and safe work practices
  • Observe, document, and report safety concerns to field leadership
  • Support consistent safety and quality standards across multiple jobsites

Reporting and Documentation

  • Maintain daily or weekly job walk summaries as required
  • Provide clear documentation of risks, trends, and corrective actions
  • Support accurate project records through photos, notes, and field reports

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify recurring field challenges and opportunities for process improvement
  • Support training and onboarding efforts by reinforcing company field standards

Authority and Decision Rights

  • Authorized to identify and report budget risks, productivity concerns, and scope issues
  • Authorized to recommend corrective actions to Project Managers, Operations Manager, and Owner
  • Authorized to coordinate field information and request clarifications
  • Not authorized to approve change orders, commit company funds, or direct disciplinary action unless expressly delegated

  • Reduction in unexpected project cost overruns
  • Early identification and mitigation of labor and productivity risks
  • Improved field readiness and coordination
  • Consistent, accurate, and timely reporting to Operations, Ownership, and Project Management

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

This position is primarily field-based and requires frequent travel between jobsites. The role requires the ability to walk active construction sites, climb stairs and ladders as needed, work in varying weather conditions, and comply with all company safety policies and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.

Requirements

 Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction operations, field supervision, or project coordination
  • Strong understanding of jobsite workflow, sequencing, and field operations
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, schedules, and scopes of work
  • Working knowledge of labor productivity and job cost drivers
  • Strong written, verbal, and organizational communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting job cost tracking and budget reviews
  • Familiarity with estimating or job costing software
  • OSHA 10, OSHA 30, or equivalent safety training
  • Experience coordinating multiple active jobsites simultaneously
Salary Description
$185-200k/yr
