Field CAD Technician

Location: Various U.S. Locations / Travel Required Industry: Construction / Facilities / 3PL / CAD Drafting / Field Services Employment Type: Full-Time / Traveling Position Employment Details This is a full-time traveling position supporting Amazon facility, construction, warehouse, and third-party logistics (3PL) projects throughout the United States. Because our work is project-based, schedules may occasionally be affected by project cancellations, delays, or changes in start dates. These circumstances may result in temporary periods between assignments. Our goal is to maintain a consistent workload and minimize disruptions whenever possible. As a general expectation, a typical rotation could involve approximately three weeks of active project work followed by up to one week between assignments if a project is delayed or canceled. The actual schedule may vary depending on project demand, location, and timing. Flexibility is an important part of this position, as project schedules can change with limited notice. Candidates must be comfortable traveling extensively and adapting to changing project requirements. We work closely with Amazon leadership to provide field support, coordination, and project execution, particularly when managing contractors and field teams who may be unfamiliar with Amazon's processes, safety requirements, and operational protocols. Our projects take place in active warehouse, fulfillment, distribution, and industrial facilities. Successful project execution requires accurate documentation, strong communication, attention to detail, safety awareness, and coordination between project management, engineering, contractors, and field installation teams. About the Position We are seeking an experienced, dependable, and detail-oriented CAD Technician / Facilities Layout Specialist to support field operations on Amazon facility projects throughout the United States. The primary responsibility of this position is to create, revise, maintain, and verify CAD drawings and facility layouts that support construction, facility retrofits, equipment installations, warehouse reconfigurations, and other Amazon and 3PL projects. The CAD Technician will work closely with Site Managers, Project Managers, engineers, subcontractors, and field personnel to translate existing drawings, field measurements, sketches, photographs, and project markups into accurate, dimensioned CAD layouts. The position will support projects involving guardrails, 5S floor tape, decals, shelving, workstations, IT equipment, electrical and data locations, material-handling equipment, signage, and other facility components. The ideal candidate can interpret technical drawings, perform accurate measurements, identify layout conflicts, maintain organized drawing files, and produce clear documentation that field crews can use to execute installations correctly. This is a field-oriented CAD position that combines computer-based drafting and documentation with on-site measurements, facility layout verification, and coordination with installation teams.
