Description

This role sits in the Recreation Services branch and will be responsible for managing the day-to-day facilities of Lords Recreation Centre. The successful candidate will also actively participate in the development of policies, procedures and processes in support of centre operations.

This would be a perfect opportunity for a tradesperson looking to step into their first management role, within local government.

Kindly note, weekend work may sometimes be required. Flexible early start hours are also available.

The key responsibilities of this role are to: 

  • Schedule and deliver all emergency and reactive repairs and maintenance of assets and facility that ensures compliance with relevant standards, codes, regulations and legislation.
  • Supervise progress of contractors undertaking building, facility and equipment repairs, maintenance and installation works and ensures all work is carried out in accordance to relevant standards, codes, regulations and legislation without limitation, in respect of cleaning, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, building services, etc.
  • Supervise, monitor and report on the contractor performance including cleaning contract and aquatic preventative maintenance contract.
  • Lead all Duty Managers in promoting a standard of service delivery by proactively identifying and resolving specific customer needs and exceeding their expectations.
  • Ensure Duty Managers have maintained a satisfactory level of skills and certifications required.
  • Facilitate the completion of payroll documentation in accordance with payroll timeframes.
  • Develop rostering arrangements and complete and release rosters for Duty Manager staff.
  • Act as a Chief Warden in a Centre evacuation, coordinating staff, contractors and patrons.
  • Take on a coordinating role in line with emergency protocols in the event of a major centre emergency or aquatic incident
  •  Complete general repairs at the Centre, as required.
  • Respond to emergencies outside of working hours via phone and/or attend site, if required.
  • Any other duties as required.

Essential criteria:

  • Highly developed and proven interpersonal, communication and influencing skills.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Proven experience and sound technical knowledge related to the operation of buildings or sites.
  • Experience in maintenance and contract management, 
  • Well-developed knowledge and understanding of the provisions of the Department of Health Regulations and Code of Practice applying to operation of a Group 3 public aquatic centre.
  • Well-developed ability to use corporate computer systems.
  • Current 'C' class Western Australian drivers' licence.

Salary package:

In line with the City of Subiaco Inside Staff Industrial Agreement 2025, this position is classified as a Level 6 and the salary range is $97,864 to $107,640 per annum, exclusive of superannuation.
