PHX is the largest of three airports in the Phoenix Airport System, along with Deer Valley and Goodyear, operated by the City of Phoenix Aviation Department (AVN). Collectively, these airports generate an estimated $38 billion annual economic impact. The Project Management Section within the Facilities & Services (F&S) Division plays a critical role in planning, coordinating, and delivering facility projects across the Aviation Department. These projects range from infrastructure upgrades to capital improvements, all essential to maintaining safe, efficient, and customer-friendly airport operations. The Aviation Department is seeking a Facilities Project Planner to strengthen project oversight and ensure timely, cost-effective, and compliant execution of facility projects. This position will focus on detailed project planning, vendor coordination, contractor escorting, fiscal accountability, and proactive inspections of building systems and components. Key duties and responsibilities: Work within both office and field environments with regular site visits to airport facilities. Develop detailed project criteria, specifications, and scopes of work for facilities projects. Maintain essential project documentation, including specifications, contracts, and compliance records. Review and process invoices and payments to ensure fiscal accountability and compliance with contract terms. Serve as a liaison between contractors and F&S sections, addressing project challenges and ensuring efficient communication. Assist with contractor selection, conduct pre-bid site visits, and maintain effective vendor relationships throughout the project lifecycle. Conduct on-site inspections of building structures, furnishings, and systems to ensure adherence to city standards and contract requirements. Requires mandatory evenings, early morning hours and weekend work to support project evaluation, contractor escorting, and or additional project milestones. IDEAL CANDIDATE Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong background in contract administration, invoice review, and fiscal accountability. Familiarity with building systems inspections and compliance with municipal standards. Excellent communication skills for stakeholder coordination and documentation management. Knowledge of procurement processes, including pre-bid site visits and contractor evaluations. Knowledge of building codes and ordinances and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements. Knowledge of the methods, practices, tools, and materials used in building, electrical, and HVAC maintenance and repair work. Proficiency in the use of computers and multiple business software applications including MS Office, MS Outlook, MS Projects, SAP, email, and AutoCAD. SALARY Pay Range: $35.78 to $52.87 per hour. Hiring Range: $35.78 to $41.42 per hour. Pay Range Explanation: Pay range is the entire compensation range for the position classification. Hiring range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity.
