Versatile FabricationFacilities and Equipment Maintenance Lead Position Summary The Facilities and Equipment Maintenance Lead is responsible for maintaining the company’s facilities, equipment, vehicles, tools, stockroom, and related resources in a safe, functional, and reliable condition. This position serves as a hands-on resource for maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, purchasing, inventory management, and facility upkeep. The Facilities and Equipment Maintenance Lead works closely with the Plant Foreman, and Sales Project Managers to ensure the shop has the materials, tools, equipment, vehicles, and facility support necessary to operate efficiently. This position also provides day-to-day coordination and oversight of company delivery drivers, including scheduling, routing, vehicle needs, and coordination of material pickups and deliveries. Primary Duties & Responsibilities Stockroom, Inventory & Purchasing Oversee the stockroom and maintain an organized, clean, and efficient storage system for hardware, tools, equipment, and shop supplies. Maintain adequate inventory levels of materials, hardware, tools, and supplies necessary to support daily shop and field operations. Assist production staff and other employees in locating tools, hardware, and shop supplies. Maintain strong working knowledge of hardware types, applications, specifications, and storage locations. Monitor inventory levels and identify items requiring replenishment. Purchase hardware, tools, small equipment, maintenance supplies, and other items as needed and authorized. Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to support timely procurement and competitive pricing. Identify opportunities to standardize commonly used hardware, tools, and supplies. Maintain appropriate organization and accountability for company-owned tools and equipment. Facilities Maintenance & Repairs Maintain company facilities, production areas, grounds, and related infrastructure in a safe, clean, and functional condition. Perform or coordinate general facility repairs and improvements as required. Perform basic repairs and maintenance facility-maintenance equipment. Identify facility issues and coordinate outside contractors when repairs require specialized services. Monitor facility conditions and proactively address issues before they become significant operational or safety concerns. Equipment Maintenance & Repair Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on shop and production equipment. Coordinate planned maintenance schedules with OEMs on critical equipment including lasers and press brakes. Repair and maintain welders, welding equipment, welding cables, and related shop equipment such as mowers, snowblowers, etc. Apply working knowledge of electrical systems, including basic troubleshooting of fuses, wiring, and electrical components from 24V through 480V. Troubleshoot equipment issues and determine appropriate repair solutions. Provide practical input and recommendations regarding equipment repairs, replacement, and maintenance needs. Maintain portable generators and welders and perform required repairs and preventive maintenance. Assist Production and Operations in minimizing equipment downtime and restoring equipment to service as quickly as practical. Identify recurring equipment problems and communicate recommendations for corrective action or replacement. Vehicle & Transportation Support Coordinate repairs and maintenance for company-owned vehicles and trucks. Monitor the condition and operational readiness of company vehicles. Maintain awareness of vehicle maintenance requirements and communicate significant issues to leadership. Assist with troubleshooting and coordination of vehicle-related issues that may affect delivery operations. Driver Supervision & Delivery Coordination Provide day-to-day direction and oversight to the company’s truck drivers.
