POSITION SUMMARY: The Export Auditor is responsible for reviewing, verifying, and monitoring international export documentation to support regulatory compliance, shipment accuracy, and audit readiness. This role uses internal shipping records, customs documentation, system data, and established procedures to identify documentation gaps, reduce operational risk, and help ensure compliance with applicable global trade requirements. The Export Auditor maintains a daily audit listing that tracks file status, required corrections, follow-up actions, and outstanding items through audit closure. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Plan and perform routine internal export audits using established audit procedures and reporting tools. Review daily audit reports to confirm export files are compliant prior to port departure. Verify the accuracy and completeness of key export documents, including SLIs, commercial invoices, EIN information, ports of departure, cargo descriptions, and shipment records. Review Schedule B / HS tariff codes, customs valuation, country of origin information, and other applicable export data elements. Identify documentation errors, compliance risks, potential rule violations, missing information, and process gaps. Escalate repeated errors, high-risk issues, potential regulatory concerns, or unresolved audit items to management and Compliance as appropriate. Provide clear, current, and actionable audit status reports for the manager. Conduct a methodical review of shipment data and understand how data fields interact across export documents and systems. Identify discrepancies between documents, including clerical errors, value mismatches, missing documentation, and inconsistent shipment details. Communicate correction requests clearly to coordinators by email, including examples or supporting details when needed. Follow up on open audit items within established timelines, typically within five business days, and continue follow-up until resolution. Maintain a dated monthly tracking report to monitor corrections, aging items, repeated errors, and long-standing open issues. Provide one-on-one coaching and practical examples to improve coordinator accuracy and reduce repeat audit findings. Support Team Leads and Supervisors with new-hire training by explaining documentation standards and the requirements for a clean audit file.
