EXPERIENCED TRANSPORTATION DISPATCHER / OPERATIONS COORDINATOR

HC Phillips & Sons, Inc. | Jackson, TN HC Phillips & Sons is looking for an experienced, dependable, and highly organized transportation professional to assist with our trucking and dispatch operations. This is NOT an entry-level position. We are looking for someone who already understands the trucking industry and can bring experience, knowledge, organization, and problem-solving skills to our operation. The right person should be able to step into the position, understand the day-to-day demands of carrier dispatching, and help keep our trucks moving efficiently and profitably. Responsibilities may include: Dispatching company trucks and drivers Searching DAT and other load boards for profitable freight Communicating and negotiating directly with brokers and customers Booking loads and obtaining/reviewing rate confirmations Planning loads, routes, pickup times, and delivery schedules Applying for oversize/overweight permits and understanding permitting requirements Coordinating pilot cars/escorts when required Sending drivers complete load information and instructions Tracking trucks and monitoring loads from pickup through delivery Handling delays, breakdowns, appointment changes, and other issues that arise Collecting BOLs, PODs, fuel receipts, permits, scale tickets, and required paperwork from drivers Making sure completed load paperwork is accurate, organized, and ready for billing Following up on detention, layover, TONU, and other accessorial charges Maintaining organized load and driver records Assisting with ELD/log and DOT compliance-related documentation Assisting with IFTA mileage, fuel documentation, and recordkeeping Communicating professionally with drivers, brokers, customers, shippers, and receivers General transportation office and administrative responsibilities WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR ✔ Previous trucking dispatch or transportation/logistics experience REQUIRED ✔ Working knowledge of carrier dispatch operations ✔ Experience using load boards such as DAT, TruckStop, Highway ✔ Understanding of freight rates, lanes, mileage, and load profitability ✔ Experience communicating and negotiating with freight brokers ✔ Strong understanding of trucking paperwork and documentation ✔ Excellent organization and follow-through ✔ Strong phone, computer, and communication skills ✔ Ability to handle multiple trucks, drivers, loads, and problems at the same time ✔ Someone who takes initiative and can work independently ✔ Someone who can bring knowledge and experience to our operation and help improve our current processes We are not looking to train someone from the ground up. We are looking for an experienced individual who understands trucking and can become a valuable part of our transportation operation. HC Phillips & Sons, Inc.
