Experienced Port Drayage Dispatcher – LA/LB Ports

Pacific Expressway, Inc. is an established Southern California transportation and logistics company specializing in container drayage through the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach . We are looking for an experienced Port Drayage Dispatcher who understands how LA/LB port trucking actually works. This is not an entry-level or general dispatch position. If you understand containers, marine terminals, appointments, LFDs, empty returns, chassis, driver management and how to keep freight moving when the ports don't cooperate — we want to talk to you. What You'll Be Responsible For Dispatch company drivers to the Ports of Los Angeles/Long Beach and customer locations Coordinate import and export container moves Schedule port, warehouse and customer appointments Monitor container availability, LFDs, holds and terminal appointments Coordinate empty container returns and prevent unnecessary per diem Manage chassis availability and equipment requirements Monitor drivers throughout the day and adjust the dispatch plan as conditions change Communicate delays, problems and shipment status to customers Maintain accurate container and dispatch information in PortPro Work closely with drivers, customer service, warehouse and operations Identify problems before they become service failures, demurrage, detention or unnecessary costs Keep drivers productive while meeting customer delivery requirements What We're Looking For Preferred Qualifications: 2+ years of LA/LB port drayage dispatch experience Experience using PortPro TMS Working knowledge of LA/LB marine terminals and terminal websites Understanding of appointments, LFDs, demurrage, per diem, chassis and empty returns Experience managing multiple drivers and container moves simultaneously Strong computer skills Excellent communication and customer service skills Strong problem-solving ability Ability to stay organized and make decisions in a fast-paced environment Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus You'll Do Well Here If... You recognize when an empty return or chassis issue could create additional charges and start working on the solution. You know how to communicate with drivers. You can reorganize a dispatch plan when a terminal changes appointments or conditions. And when the board gets busy, you stay organized and keep freight moving. Compensation $25.00-$40.00 per hour Compensation is based on actual LA/LB port drayage experience, PortPro proficiency and the ability to independently manage a high-volume dispatch operation. Strong, proven LA/LB drayage dispatchers will be compensated accordingly.
