Experienced Buyer Asian Foods (Read/Write Chinese)

Since 1985, Asian Fine Foods has been one of the premier importers of Asian grocery products. Our customers encompass retail supermarkets, restaurant supply, and wholesalers across the United States and Mexico. We are a growing, essential business in a recession resistant industry, and we are looking to scale our team to propel us into new markets. We are seeking a buyer that has import purchasing experience. Because many of our import documentation and product information is in Chinese, the ability to read and write Chinese is a big plus. Job Responsibilities: Accurately forecast demand for each SKU and effectively manage monthly purchasing requirements. Collaborate closely with overseas vendors to negotiate pricing and gather comprehensive product information. Collaborate with the sales team and management to compile monthly orders for each vendor. Coordinate shipment and delivery of ocean cargo by liaising with shipping lines and freight forwarders. Maintain meticulous import and product purchase records while ensuring compliance with local and national permits and regulations. Identify new overseas vendors for food products, expanding our supplier network. Regularly review and update product pages on our website to maintain an up-to-date company catalog. Assist in optimizing warehouse operations and conduct inventory counts. Process customer orders on an ad hoc basis when the sales team is unavailable. Perform additional office activities as required to contribute to the smooth functioning of the company. Requirements: Minimum of five years of experience in overseas purchasing and logistics. At least three years of experience in the food industry. Bachelor's degree. Dependable, punctual, and committed to meeting deadlines. Bilingual in Mandarin Chinese or Cantonese is highly desirable. Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
