Jake’s Tree Service is looking for an experienced Excavator Operator & Wood Yard Manager to oversee daily wood yard operations at our Chester, Pennsylvania location. We need a skilled, dependable individual with hands-on excavator operating experience who can efficiently manage incoming tree material, organize the yard, and oversee the processing of logs, rounds, brush, and other debris. Experience in the tree service or logging industry is strongly preferred. This is not an entry-level position. Previous excavator operating experience is a MUST! JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Operate an excavator to move, sort, separate, and process incoming tree material. Manage the day-to-day operations of the wood yard. Separate and organize logs, rounds, brush, and other tree debris. Process incoming material efficiently for storage, recycling, or disposal. Maintain an organized, clean, and productive yard. Ensure materials are properly sorted and stored in designated areas. Perform routine equipment inspections and report maintenance needs. Follow all equipment operating procedures and safety protocols. Keep yard operations running smoothly and efficiently. Assist with other equipment and yard-related duties as needed. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Previous excavator operating experience is REQUIRED. Demonstrated ability to safely operate heavy equipment and handle large materials. Ability to work independently and take responsibility for daily yard operations. Strong understanding of equipment safety and material handling. Reliable, hardworking, and committed to maintaining an organized work environment. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Previous experience in the tree service, logging, forestry, or related industries. Experience handling and processing logs, rounds, brush, and tree debris. CDL Class A driver's license. Previous experience overseeing a wood yard, material yard, or similar operation. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Competitive Pay: $30–$35 per hour , based on experience and qualifications. Full-time employment. 40–60 hours per week, depending on operational needs.
