Evening Driver / Warehouse Support

Toni's Kitchen is a food ministry of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Montclair, NJ. It was founded over 40 years ago as a soup kitchen to serve those with a need for healthy, reliable nutrition. Today, Toni's Kitchen provides over 2 million meals in the community, with a robust program offering focused on ensuring reliable food access to the diverse populations facing food insecurity. Scope: This position is designed to provide support moving food and supplies in and out of our small warehouse. Toni’s Kitchen has several delivery vans, used for food deliveries, trash/composting/recycling, and community outreach events. Providing driving support is a key aspect of this position. Responsibilities include: - Driving support, including regular driving of vans and occasional driving of food truck. Safe driving and operation of vehicles, including the ability to follow assigned routes and schedules and adhere to all traffic laws and regulations. - Load and unload vans to support food delivery and receiving. - Receive pallets of food deliveries and ensure they are moved to the correct space in our storage facility. - Support our pantry program by moving food from storage and fridge areas into distribution area as needed. Additional responsibilities include: - Engage volunteers who will help with this work. - Provide a warm welcome to guests, volunteers, and donors, ensuring that all recognize they are an important and valued part of the Toni’s Kitchen community. - Demonstrate good judgment in terms of boundaries and engagement for all populations in the TK space. - Be a flexible, responsive part of the TK staff team, helping to cover for each other, lending expertise and insight, and offering suggestions for improvement as appropriate. - Maintain a clean and safe workspace. Driving: Our delivery vehicles are Ford Transit 250 vans and a Ford Econoline van. Experience driving these types of vehicles is crucial. Valid driver’s license & clean driving record required. No CDL is required. Hiring is incumbent on the successful completion of a background & driving record check. Required Skills: · Reliability and punctuality. · Flexibility and ability to adjust to changes of plans. · Good communication skills. Clear and regular communication with Toni’s Kitchen staff is crucial. · Able to work with people and enjoy many personalities and diversity. · Valid drivers license with a clean driving record. · Able to work outdoors and drive in changing weather and temperature conditions. · This is a physically active worksite. Must be able to be on your feet for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
