Estimator & Procurement Specialist

About Us CDG Maui is a design-build construction company building high-end custom homes on Maui. We plan carefully, build it right, and own the outcome. We're growing and building a team where everyone knows their role and has the support to do it well. The Opportunity You'll price our work and buy it right. You build accurate estimates that protect margin, and you own subcontractor and material procurement: developing a strong bench of qualified trade partners and sourcing materials, including imports from overseas, at the best total cost. You report to our Senior PM / Team Lead and work closely with our PMs, architect, field team and Equipment & Materials Coordinator. Duties & Responsibilities Prepare takeoffs, estimates and bid comparisons; identify scope gaps Own our qualified sub list, with at least three qualified subs for every trade Source and qualify trade partners: references, capabilities, licensing and insurance Build and maintain trade partner relationships and our roster in Buildertrend, with A/B/C ratings from PM and field feedback Get, compare and negotiate subcontractor bids and recommend awards to our PMs Source materials and suppliers, including China sourcing; compare total landed cost (freight, duties, brokerage, inspections and delivery to Maui) Coordinate samples, supplier vetting and quality inspections, using outside specialists as needed Coordinate approved orders, shipment tracking and delivery schedules with our PMs and Equipment & Materials Coordinator Price change orders and keep a historical cost database from closed jobs What We're Looking For Five or more years of relevant construction experience, with demonstrated responsibility for estimating, subcontractor bid evaluation and material purchasing Custom residential construction experience strongly preferred International sourcing/import coordination experience preferred Estimates that held up against actual costs, with examples to show it Reads plans and specs; catches missing scope before it becomes a change order Accurate, organized and on time; strong Excel and comfortable with Buildertrend or similar software Builds strong relationships with trades and suppliers Legally authorized to work in the United States (I-9 verification required at hire) Candidates with fewer years and exceptional demonstrated capability will also be considered.
