Equipment Technician
Mericle Construction, Inc.Mericle Construction, Inc. is seeking an experienced Equipment Technician. This Equipment Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and performing preventive maintenance on Mericle Construction’s fleet of telehandlers, aerial lifts, and other construction equipment. This hands-on role troubleshoots mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and operational issues, completes repairs to keep equipment safe and jobsite-ready, performs routine inspections and PM services, and responds to field service needs. The Equipment Technician also maintains service records, coordinates parts and repairs, and supports shop operations as needed. Responsibilities: Serve as the primary contact for telehandler, boom lift, and scissor lift maintenance, repair, and field support. Perform inspections, preventive maintenance, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on aerial lift and telehandler equipment in both the shop and field. Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, engine, drivetrain, steering, braking, battery, charging, control, and safety systems. Repair and maintain lift structures, boom assemblies, cylinders, hoses, pumps, valves, tires, wheels, operator controls, and other equipment components. Read and interpret service manuals, wiring diagrams, hydraulic schematics, and diagnostic information. Test equipment after repairs to ensure safe operation and compliance with manufacturer specifications. Respond to field service calls, communicate repair status, and resolve equipment issues in a timely manner. Coordinate equipment replacements, outside repairs, parts procurement, warranty claims, and technical support as needed. Maintain accurate maintenance schedules, inspection records, repair histories, and service documentation. Support shop and field mechanics by transporting parts, tools, supplies, and materials as needed. Assist with repairs on other company equipment when aerial and telehandler fleet maintenance requirements are current. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following company safety policies and procedures. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record. 3-5 years of experience maintaining and repairing construction equipment in shop and field environments. Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, electronic, and diesel engine systems. Experience troubleshooting equipment using diagnostic software and technical documentation. Ability to safely operate telehandlers, boom lifts, and scissor lifts. Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work independently, prioritize work, and adapt to changing needs. Previous field service or mobile mechanic experience preferred. Relevant equipment manufacturer training or certifications preferred. Willingness to obtain company-required training and certifications.
