EPC Freight Forwarding Project Manager
Altius Talent | Freight Forwarding RecruitmentEPC Freight Forwarding Project Manager | $110,000 - $130,000 Base + Bonus | Houston, TX (Energy Corridor) ABOUT Our client is a Swiss-founded project freight forwarder, established in 1971, with 24 offices worldwide and a single specialism: EPC and energy project freight. The company owns its chartering desk and its transport engineering function, so project managers here control the full move rather than brokering pieces of it out. The Houston office opened in 2010, sits on the Energy Corridor and runs 45 staff. Clients are EPC contractors, OEMs and energy developers. Average client tenure is 11 years, and the top three accounts have been on the books for over 15. The company has been awarded scopes on two Gulf Coast LNG expansions and a Permian gas processing build-out with deliveries through 2029. This hire owns one of those LNG scopes end to end. The seat is being filled now because the FEED-stage logistics work starts in Q4 and the client wants the PM in the room from the first study, not parachuted in at execution. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES You will own EPC project scopes end to end, from FEED-stage logistics studies and ITB responses through module delivery and close-out. You will build transport plans across breakbulk, OOG and heavy lift: vessel selection, part and full charters with the in-house chartering desk, and barge and SPMT legs, including Jones Act tonnage on domestic barge moves. You will lead route surveys, lift plans and method statements with transport engineering and heavy haul subcontractors. You will run the project budget, control demurrage, detention and standby exposure, and report variance to the client monthly. You will chair vendor readiness and expediting calls and hold marshalling yards and transloads to the master schedule. You will manage the coordinators on your file and set the documentation standard for letter of credit sets, AES/EEI and ISF. You will own the client relationship at logistics manager level, running QBRs, KPI reporting and claims. You will support the sales desk on tender pricing and bid clarifications. You will enforce QHSE across site deliveries and every heavy lift operation on your scope. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR You have at least five years in project logistics, with at least two running EPC scopes as the file owner or project manager. You have fixed or supported part charters and can talk laycan, load and discharge terms, and demurrage without reaching for a glossary. You have executed heavy lift and OOG moves and have sat in the route survey, not just read the report. You have faced EPC logistics leads directly and held commercial ground in that room. You have controlled freight budgets in the millions and can show where you protected margin. You will travel to fabrication yards and project sites, domestic and international. You work in CargoWise or a comparable system and your Excel holds up under a bid tab. WHAT'S ON OFFER Base salary of $110,000 to $130,000, positioned in the upper band of the Houston project cargo market. Annual bonus tied to project milestones and scope profitability. Medical, dental and vision cover, 401(k) with company match, and PTO. Named-scale work: LNG trains and gas processing modules, with the authority to run the scope your way. An employer that has done nothing but project freight for 50 years, so the network understands what your files need.
