Entry-level Logistics Coordinator/ Dispatcher
Aston CarterJob Title: Dispatcher Job Description We are seeking a Dispatcher to oversee transportation move management from assignment through final delivery. The individual will coordinate carrier capacity, monitor shipment status, troubleshoot delivery issues, and proactively communicate updates to internal stakeholders and customers. This position offers a clear growth path into leadership within transportation operations. Responsibilities Coordinate and manage shipments from assignment through delivery. Monitor and maintain load boards to ensure timely coverage. Source and secure carrier capacity within established rate guidelines. Maintain accurate shipment status updates within the transportation management system (TMS). Monitor pickups and deliveries to ensure performance standards are met. Identify shipment delays and service risks proactively. Resolve transportation exceptions and operational issues. Escalate unresolved concerns with documented action steps. Serve as primary point of contact for carriers and transportation providers. Build and maintain strong carrier relationships. Provide proactive shipment updates and exception notifications. Partner closely with account management and operations teams. Troubleshoot service issues and coordinate resolutions. Balance carrier needs, customer expectations, and profitability goals. Deliver exceptional customer service in a fast-paced environment. Monitor profitability on assigned shipments. Document carrier rejections and capacity issues. Support operational reporting and data accuracy. Assist with transportation performance tracking. Essential Skills Customer service experience. Dispatching and data entry skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel. Experience with transportation management systems (TMS). Bachelor's degree preferred or minimum 1 year of experience in logistics, transportation, dispatch, brokerage, or supply chain. Experience in trucking, transportation, 3PL, brokerage, or fleet operations highly preferred. Additional Skills & Qualifications Strong communication skills. Relationship-building ability. Work Environment The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 1pm-10pm , with one weekend per month on a rotating basis. The schedule is published in advance. The environment is fast-paced and team-oriented, offering significant interaction with carriers, operations, and account management teams. This role provides exposure to transportation operations and carrier management, with opportunities to develop logistics and leadership skills. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Plymouth, MI. Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $55000.00 - $55000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. 10 days of PTO, Competitive benefits, Med, vision, and dental benefits.
