rials & Process Engineering department within the Space and Missions Systems sector, you’ll join a group of driven professionals who design the products and systems that support enhanced military capabilities, protect national security, and keep critical information and infrastructure secure.
We are looking for a Materials & Process Engineer to add their skills to our team supporting the development of new designs and also supporting a highly vertically integrated production environment. This is a dynamic job working across numerous engineering and manufacturing disciplines on products that range from the F-35 fighter aircraft, the AMRAAM missile, the Orion Spacecraft for NASA’s Artemis Mission and many other next generation platforms.
The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit comprises the technical talent and organizational leadership that enables the successful delivery of high-impact discriminating technologies for our customers’ missions. What You’ll Do:
• Work as a team member in the design of communication equipment and sensors for flight hardware and ground-support equipment, testing and selecting materials and processes to ensure program performance requirements (structural, thermal, environmental, etc.) are met.
• Develop and implement materials and processes (M&P) plans for tactical hardware, including leading efforts to qualify new materials and processes for flight usage.
• Review engineering drawings and provide feedback to designers on materials selection, producibility, and process specifications.
• Analyze data and generate reports on the results of these tests.
• Perform failure analyses and root cause and corrective action efforts using internal laboratory equipment to assist in failure investigations.
• Represent BAE Systems Inc., Space & Mission Systems and customer organizations (e.g. manufacturing, project, systems engineering, mission assurance, production, integration and test, supply chain, etc.) in the implementation of M&P program requirements.
• Flow down program M&P requirements to subcontractors and vendors and verify that those requirements are met by authoring drawings, specifications, statements of requirements and/or statements of work.
• Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions:
• Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
• May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
• May access other facilities in various weather conditions.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
• BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 2 or more years related experience.
