Elevator Operator & Rail Loader – 2nd Shift – Mendota, IL Shift: Monday – Friday, 2:00PM – 10:00PM with call-in coverage, as needed. This position will start on 1st shift (Monday – Friday, 7:00AM – 3:30PM) for initial training period. This role is responsible for managing wheat inventory, unloading and loading railcars, unloading wheat trucks, loading Middling trucks and performing rail movement as locomotive/rail mover driver or ground person. The Elevator Operator & Rail Loader must maintain the desired safety, production, quality, and environmental objectives. Responsibilities: Manages the daily receiving, intake, transfer, and inventory of wheat, including accurate recordkeeping in company reporting systems. Loads unloads rail cars/trucks, including wheat, flour, and middlings in a safe, efficient, and timely manner, completing all required documentation and procedures. Coordinates and executes railcar movement, rail pump-offs, and related inventory management activities. Operates motorized and mobile equipment, including but not limited to locomotives, trackmobile/railcar movers, skid steers, articulating boom lifts, telehandlers, forklifts, and car gate openers. Performs daily equipment inspections and walkthroughs to verify equipment functionality and promptly reports issues or safety concerns to leadership. Assists with routine equipment care, cleaning, and basic preventative maintenance, as needed. Executes daily Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to ensure and maintain cleanliness throughout the plant and department. Follows and understands ESLP (Equipment Specific Lockout Procedure) to ensure safe and successful Lock-Out Tag-Out (LOTO) of process equipment. Adheres to all safety regulations and partners with team members and plant leadership to foster a culture of safety for all individuals. Perform other duties as assigned by leadership. Requirements: Ability to work independently with a high level of autonomy. Willing to take initiative and assist with driving results. Possesses high degree of punctuality, work ethic, and reliability. Able to engage in critical thinking and problem-solving. Able to communicate effectively with department operators and leadership. Possesses strong attention to detail and high levels of quality of work. Preferred Skills: Mechanical inclination and aptitude with ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues. Understanding of manufacturing safety policies and procedures. Proficiency in Windows Computer Operating System and related software. Education & Experience: High School Diploma/GED, required. Must be 18 years of age or older. Past grain elevator operations experience preferred. Experience in manufacturing workplace operating heavy machinery, preferred.
