Electrical Field Engineer
JoaQuin ManufacturingSUMMARY OF DUTIES: The Electrical Field Engineer is the link between Electrical Design and Production. The role understands both sides, how a building is designed and how it is built, and closes the gaps between them so drawings are buildable, builds match the drawings, and projects ship right the first time. The focus is the gear and controls inside our buildings. The Field Engineer owns the controls documentation for that gear, touches every electrical package JQMC designs, helps move approval drawings through customer review, and stays with each project from approval through production, testing, shipment and field support. Strong drawing comprehension matters more than original design ability. Mechanical, structural and finish design, and coordinating them with electrical, stay with the design team. Own controls documentation for gear: AC/DC schematics, point-to-point and interconnect wiring diagrams, relay panel wiring, gear layouts and elevations, panel schedules, wire lists and gear BOMs. Review electrical drawing packages for buildability before release to production. Help get approval drawings through customer and engineer-of-record review. Serve as Production's go-to resource for electrical drawing questions, and turn redlines and field changes into updated drawings. Handle specialized controls work on gear: relays, PLCs, networks and time sync. Support testing and FATs, then field startup, troubleshooting and warranty after shipment. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Controls documentation (gear focus) Prepare, check and maintain controls documentation for gear in AutoCAD from the engineer's one-lines and design intent: AC/DC schematics, point-to-point and interconnect wiring diagrams, relay panel wiring, and gear layouts and elevations. Build and maintain panel schedules, wire lists, nameplate and device lists, and gear BOMs. Prepare shipping-split interconnect diagrams, cable and conduit schedules and I/O lists, and compile electrical content for closeout and O&M packages. Revise drawings from production redlines and as-built conditions so released drawings match the build. Control drawing revisions on assigned projects so the floor always works from the current set. Work within JQMC drawing standards and templates. Design review and approval drawings Review electrical packages for buildability, clarity and completeness before release to production, with the deepest focus on gear and controls. Support the design team on power, lighting, grounding and fire alarm packages. Help get approval drawings through customer and engineer-of-record review: track comments, answer technical questions, make revisions, resubmit, and coordinate comment status and schedule with Project Management. Assist with electrical submittal packages and product data. Attend design reviews and bring production feedback into the design. Production liaison Act as the primary electrical contact between Electrical Design and Production on assigned projects. Walk drawing packages with Production electrical leadership at job kickoff. Answer drawing questions on the floor and resolve conflicts. Route changes that affect PE-stamped or customer-approved drawings to the responsible engineer. Collect redlines and field changes from the floor. Handle specialized controls work as projects require: configure, connect and check out protective relays, PLC/RTU equipment, ethernet and fiber networks, and IRIG-B time sync; load and verify relay settings provided by the engineer or customer. Check gear and controls material against specifications and approved submittals, and answer vendor technical questions. Purchasing and the warehouse own procurement and receiving. Testing and FAT Support Quality Control with functional and controls checkout, relay and I/O checks, and confirmation that the drawings match the build. Quality Control owns testing. Help prepare for and support customer-witnessed FATs, and resolve design-side punch items. Issue as-built drawings at shipment…
