Driver/warehouse team member

The oldest continuously operating charity in Western New York, the Society of St. Vincent dePaul has served our community for over 175 years. Through our newly remodeled Vincent’s Discount Store , recycling program, neighborhood dining room, and volunteer-based community outreach, the Society provides food, clothing, and other life essential items to over 20,000 of our neighbors in need every year. We are currently seeking a driver/warehouse team member to support our Vincent’s Discount Store and recycling operations. Vincent’s Discount Store is the only remaining department store on Main Street within the City of Buffalo. It is a full range department store where satisfied shoppers go for brand-new bedding, new and used appliances, furniture, clothing, household goods, and more. Open six days a week, we welcome shoppers from the general public as well as friends who come to our volunteers for a little extra help in getting by. Individuals working in the driver/warehouse team member role will be responsible to: Driver Duties Drive a 16-foot box truck to various locations throughout Western New York to pick up donated clothing from bins, household goods, furniture, appliances, and other miscellaneous items Deliver furniture and other household items to Society of St. Vincent dePaul clients Inspect donation bins and report problems Briefly inspect trucks for needed repair Discern usable from unusable donations (and occasionally tell donors that we cannot accept their items) Clean truck Warehouse Duties Unload trucks of clothing, furniture, appliances, and miscellaneous items Keep warehouse clean, neat, and orderly Bring donated items into warehouse from the parking lot Assist customers with furniture take out Move furniture and other items throughout the warehouse This position is full time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Qualified candidates will have the following: High school diploma or the equivalent Valid, clean driver's license Ability to drive a 16-foot box truck with a minimum of six months experience driving for delivery and pick up Minimum one year of warehouse experience Customer service skills Ability to move large furniture with assistance Ability to drive a forklift (preferred) This position is subject to employer drug screening and reference/criminal background checks. Our offices at 1298 Main Street in Buffalo are along bus and subway routes.
