Job Description: The Driver Recruiter and Onboarding Specialist is responsible for hiring of all positions within the company including but no limited to drivers, warehouse and dispatchers. This will be achieved through developing recruitment plans, communicating with department managers, advertising and traditional sourcing strategies. The recruiter should be a self motivated individual who is proactive about business needs and industry trends. The recruiter will be responsible for the entire hiring process including phone interviews, completing background investigations on applicants, orientation and retention. This role requires knowledge of DOT/FMCSA and trucking industry knowledge and the ability to resolve driver and contractor concerns while maintaining clear company expectations and appropriate contractor relationships. Key Responsibilities Recruit experienced company drivers and owner-operators as well as non driving positions based on company standards, operational needs and customer requirements. Process employment applications according to all FMCSA, Federal, State and local laws as well company requirements Conduct new hire orientation to facilitate and implement new hire paperwork, training and all onboarding needs Coordinate onboarding, lease/independent-contractor agreements, insurance documentation, permits, equipment and credential verification, and required compliance paperwork before prior to dispatch Work with Safety for driver qualification, motor vehicle records, drug and alcohol requirements, Clearinghouse status, and required orientation and training and all onboarding requirements Explain company standard operating procedures, safety requirements, settlement processes, customer/site requirements, and key points of contact Serve as the primary contact for owner-operators and communicate regarding safety, operations, maintenance, administrative, and settlement concerns. Address new hire concerns in a professional and friendly manner escalating issues to the appropriate department or leadership when necessary to support retention and accountability. Support the Safety Department regarding compliance with applicable DOT/FMCSA, hazardous-material drug and alcohol, hours-of-service/ELD, vehicle inspection, and company safety requirements Assist Safety to monitor owner-operator safety and compliance concerns, including roadside inspections, citations, equipment issues, training completion, preventable events, and corrective-action follow-up. Assist with periodic reviews of owner-operator files, credentials, insurance, training status, and other documentation needed for company, customer, or regulatory audits Maintain current lease/contract documents, certificates of insurance, endorsements, registrations/permits, and other required owner-operator documentation.
