Driver (Class B)

JOB TITLE: CDL Class B Driver FLSA STATUS (US): NON-EXEMPT DEPARTMENT: Transportation PAY: From $25.00 per hour Job Summary: Ventura Terra Garden, Inc. is seeking a dependable and safety-focused CDL Class B Driver to support transportation operations throughout Southern California. This position is responsible for operating a 26-foot box truck to transport finished mushroom products from our Ventura facility to our Commerce distribution center approximately 2-3 times per week, as well as operating a roll-off truck to transport agricultural and production waste to approved disposal or recycling facilities. The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, reliable, and committed to maintaining product quality while ensuring compliance with DOT regulations and Company policies. Key Responsibilities: Driving & Transportation Operations · Safely operate a 26-foot box truck to transport finished mushroom products between Ventura and Commerce approximately 2-3 times per week, or as business needs require. · Safely operate a Class B roll-off truck to transport agricultural and production waste to approved disposal or recycling facilities. · Maintain proper temperature requirements when transporting refrigerated products. · Frequent travel between Ventura and Commerce, with local routes as assigned. Cargo, Documentation & Equipment · Load, unload, inspect, and secure cargo to ensure safe transportation and product integrity. · Operate manual pallet jacks and electric pallet jacks to load and unload finished products. · Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicles. · Complete driver logs, vehicle inspection reports, bills of lading, waste manifests (if applicable), fuel records, and other required transportation documentation. · Verify shipment quantities and shipping documentation before departure. · Maintain cleanliness of assigned vehicles and equipment. Safety & Compliance · Report vehicle maintenance concerns, accidents, delays, or safety issues promptly. · Follow all DOT, FMCSA, Company safety, food safety, sanitation, and GMP requirements. · Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). · Assist with warehouse and transportation-related duties as assigned. QualificationsEducation & Experience · Delivery driver: 2 years (Required). · Experience driving box trucks and roll-off trucks. · Experience transporting food products or agricultural materials. · Experience operating manual and electric pallet jacks. · Forklift certification is a plus. Licenses & Certifications · Valid California Class B Commercial Driver License (CDL). · Current DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate. · Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR). Skills & Abilities · Ability to operate both a 26-foot box truck and a roll-off truck safely. · Ability to comply with all DOT regulations, including participation in the Company's DOT drug and alcohol testing program. · Ability to safely load, secure, transport, and unload products. · Day Shift (Required). Work Environment · 4:00 AM start time. (2-3 times a week) · Approximately 30-40 hours per week, depending on business needs. · Overtime may be available. · Work Location: In person. · Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, including refrigerated warehouse environments. Physical Requirements · Sit and operate commercial vehicles for extended periods. · Frequently enter and exit commercial vehicles and loading docks. · Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds. · Operate manual and electric pallet jacks. · Bend, stoop, kneel, squat, twist, reach, climb, and walk throughout the workday. · Perform vehicle inspections and secure cargo.
