Pelican IntermodalOverview Join our dynamic team as a Rail Container CDL A Driver, specializing in hauling 20-foot and 40-foot containers via road. This energetic role offers the opportunity to operate a variety of commercial trucks, including tractor-trailers, flatbeds, and tankers, ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of freight across over-the-road routes. Duties Safely operate commercial trucks with manual transmissions, including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, and tankers, following all DOT (Department of Transportation) and FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations Load and unload freight with precision, ensuring proper handling of hazardous materials and dangerous goods in compliance with hazardous materials regulations Navigate routes efficiently using GPS navigation systems, maintaining timely deliveries across over-the-road (OTR) driving routes Transport rail containers securely from rail yards to designated delivery points, managing logistics cargo handling with care and accuracy Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety, including checking for hazards related to truck loading/unloading and trailer conditions Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, cargo manifests, and delivery documentation in compliance with DOT regulations Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding route updates, delivery statuses, and safety concerns Qualifications Valid CDL A license with a clean driving record; experience operating tractor-trailers with manual transmissions preferred Proven experience in commercial truck driving, delivery driving, or freight transportation involving hazardous materials or dangerous goods Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT rules, hazardous materials regulations, and safety protocols for manual handling and truck loading/unloading Ability to operate refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and automobile transportation equipment as needed Strong skills in GPS navigation for route planning and execution in diverse OTR routes Experience with freight logistics cargo handling and truck loading/unloading procedures Excellent driving skills with a focus on safety, compliance, and customer service Embark on a rewarding journey where your driving expertise fuels the movement of essential freight across regions.
