Drayage Dispatcher

Location: New Jersey, USA Position Type: Full-time About the Role We are expanding our trucking operations in the U.S. and are looking for an experienced Drayage Dispatcher to join our growing team in New Jersey. This role will focus on coordinating local container drayage operations, including port pickups, container deliveries, empty returns, and yard transfers. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in U.S. port drayage operations, strong dispatching skills, and the ability to communicate effectively in both Mandarin Chinese and English. Key Responsibilities Coordinate daily container drayage operations, including port pickups, deliveries, empty container returns, and yard transfers. Schedule and dispatch local truck drivers, optimizing routes and driver availability to ensure efficient operations. Monitor shipment progress and respond promptly to port congestion, delays, and other operational issues. Minimize demurrage, detention, and other avoidable operational costs through proactive planning and coordination. Communicate with drivers, port terminals, container yards, and internal teams to ensure smooth daily operations. Maintain accurate dispatch records, track operational performance, and support the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs). Qualifications Minimum 2 years of truck dispatching experience in the U.S., preferably in port drayage or container transportation. Good knowledge of local port operations, container yards, trucking routes, and dispatching procedures. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Fluent Mandarin Chinese and conversational English, with the ability to communicate effectively with drivers, terminals, and business partners. Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.
