DOT Compliance Support Specialist

Southern's Midland operation runs a fleet of cranes, haul trucks, and trailers across Southern Transport and Southern Lifting and Hoisting, completing 10 to 30 jobs a day. The Compliance Data Specialist ensures the fleet stays compliant by entering pre-trip, post-trip, and annual inspection data as they come in, and making sure nothing that matters (a certification, an inspection, a permit) ever lapses. This is an office-based role in Midland, working closely with the Field Operations team. Success here looks like records that are always current, nothing falling through the cracks, and someone the team can hand something to and trust it gets done. What You’ll Do Enter pre-trip, post-trip, and annual inspection data the same day it's received; speed and accuracy both matter Track certifications, inspections, and permits across the fleet and flag anything approaching expiration before it becomes a compliance problem Maintain accurate, up-to-date compliance records supporting both Southern Transport and Southern Lifting and Hoisting in the Midland market Support DOT/FMCSA compliance recordkeeping standards for a growing fleet of cranes, trucks, and trailers Follow through independently on direction from your supervisor; once you're told, it's handled Respond to compliance-related needs outside standard business hours when needed, given Southern's 24/7/365 operating schedule Work alongside the Field Operations Manager and team to keep the Midland fleet audit-ready at all times What You Need to Succeed Required: Experience with high-volume, accurate data entry; proficiency with Microsoft Excel Comfort learning new software and systems quickly Strong attention to detail with a track record of accurate recordkeeping Ability to work independently and follow through on assigned tasks without repeated follow-up Availability to respond to compliance needs outside standard business hours as needed Preferred: Experience with DOT/FMCSA compliance recordkeeping Background in transportation, fleet, or logistics administration Experience working in a fast-paced dispatch or office environment Who Thrives Here People who succeed at Southern tend to: Take ownership of their work Show up ready to perform Solve problems instead of waiting for direction Value safety over shortcuts Respect the team and the job What You Get Competitive pay with consistent earning potential Weekly pay Medical, dental, and vision 401(k) with company match after 6 months Opportunity to grow with a rapidly expanding operation About Southern The Southern family of companies supports complex transportation, lifting, logistics, and fabrication needs across the United States.
