Objective: The DOT Compliance Coordinator is responsible for ensuring company compliance with all applicable Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations related to drivers, vehicles, and transportation operations. This position administers driver qualification records, monitors licensing and medical certifications, conducts vehicle compliance audits and inspections, and provides training to drivers on DOT requirements and company procedures. The DOT Compliance Coordinator serves as a key resource in promoting safe, compliant, and efficient transportation operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: · Train and educate drivers on DOT regulations, company transportation policies, loading and securement requirements, and compliance expectations. · Maintain and manage driver qualification files, including DOT medical certificates, licenses, training records, and other required documentation. · Monitor commercial driver's license (CDL) status, motor vehicle records (MVRs), endorsements, restrictions, and expiration dates. · Coordinate and track DOT medical physicals, license renewals, and other required compliance activities. · Review and maintain driver pre-trip and post-trip inspection records to ensure accuracy and compliance. · Conduct regular audits of DOT-regulated vehicles and related documentation. · Perform random inspections of trucks and trailers to verify compliance with DOT standards and company policies. · Identify compliance deficiencies and work with drivers, supervisors, and management to implement corrective actions. · Maintain records and documentation necessary for DOT audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews. · Assist with accident investigations, documentation, and follow-up actions as needed. · Provide recommendations for improving transportation safety, compliance, and operational efficiency. · Stay current on DOT regulations and communicate regulatory changes to affected employees and leadership. · Perform other duties as assigned Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: · Knowledge of DOT compliance requirements and transportation best practices. · Ability to interpret regulations and apply them to day-to-day operations. · Strong auditing, documentation, and record management skills. · Ability to influence and coach drivers regarding compliance and safety expectations. · Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. · Effective verbal and written communication skills. Work Environment Considerations: · Must be able to work in high-pressure situations facing strict deadlines. Extended shifts may be necessary. · This position works in a combination of office, shop, yard, and field environments. · 20-30% travel may be required to conduct inspections, audits, training, and compliance reviews at various company locations. · Fast-paced environment requiring collaboration across multiple departments and geographic locations. · Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
