About the role
This is a hands on operations role for someone who already knows domestic LTL inside and out. You will own shipments from booking to proof of delivery, keep retailers and distribution centers on schedule, and be the calm, reliable voice our customer counts on every day. You will also direct our offshore support team and make sure nothing falls through the cracks.
What you will do
- Manage daily domestic LTL shipments for a major footwear and apparel customer, from order intake through final delivery
- Book and dispatch freight with LTL carriers and cartage agents, choosing the right service for cost, transit and retailer requirements
- Schedule delivery appointments with retailers and distribution centers, following routing guides and retail compliance requirements
- Track shipments and handle exceptions such as delays, refusals, OS&D, reconsignments and missed appointments before they become customer problems
- Prepare and review bills of lading and proofs of delivery, keeping shipment records complete and accurate
- Give the customer, carriers and agents clear, prompt updates by email and phone
- Direct and support our offshore support team, assigning tasks and checking work across time zones
- Work every shipment in our TMS and manage communication through shared inboxes
- Support billing accuracy by confirming accessorials, carrier charges and shipment details
- Spot recurring issues and suggest process improvements
What you bring
- 3+ years of domestic LTL operations experience at a freight forwarder or LTL carrier
- Strong knowledge of LTL carriers, freight classes, accessorials, BOLs, PODs and retailer appointment scheduling
- Experience with retail or consumer brand freight and routing guide compliance strongly preferred
- Comfortable working in a TMS
- Excellent written and verbal communication with a customer service mindset
- Highly organized, calm under pressure and able to juggle many shipments at once
- Experience working with or leading offshore or remote support staff is a plus
- Able to work on site at our Rancho Dominguez office
