DOD / Government Freight Dispatcher Landstar Agency SL2 | Remote | Full-Time We’re growing our team at Landstar Agency SL2 and looking for an experienced dispatcher to help manage our Department of Defense (DOD) and government freight operations. Our agency has been in business since 2000, and we’ve built our reputation on strong relationships, reliable service, and taking care of the people we work with. We’re a small, family-owned agency with the resources of the Landstar network behind us. We're looking for someone who understands that government freight is a little different from traditional trucking. Communication, attention to detail, security requirements, and relationships with both drivers and military transportation offices are incredibly important in this role. What You'll Be Doing Dispatching and coordinating expedited government freight, including express teams and specialized equipment. Managing AA&E (Arms, Ammunition & Explosives) shipments and other sensitive government freight. Building and maintaining relationships with military Transportation Officers (TOs) and government shipping facilities. Communicating regularly with drivers to coordinate pickups, deliveries, tracking, and shipment requirements. Identifying available equipment and matching trucks with freight opportunities. Supporting government freight opportunities involving straight trucks, expedited teams, and occasional open-deck or specialized equipment. Maintaining accurate shipment records, tracking updates, and documentation. Using Landstar transportation systems and government freight platforms. Proactively addressing service issues and coordinating solutions with our operations team. What We're Looking For Previous trucking dispatch or freight transportation experience. Experience with DOD, military, government, or expedited freight strongly preferred. Familiarity with Landstar operations is a major plus. An active or previously held Secret security clearance is preferred, particularly if eligible for reactivation. Strong communication skills and confidence speaking with drivers, customers, and military personnel. Someone comfortable making phone calls, building relationships, and following up consistently. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities. A dependable, self-motivated person who can work independently from a secure home office. Schedule & Work Environment This is a full-time, remote position , primarily Monday through Friday. Some after-hours availability will be necessary depending on shipment requirements. Because of the sensitive nature of government freight, candidates must have a dedicated, secure workspace. This is not a position that can be performed while traveling or working from the road.
