Possess a valid Illinois Class "B" driver's license with no restrictions and be insurable under District insurance requirements. Ability to safely and efficiently operate District delivery vehicles in varying traffic and weather conditions. Knowledge of safe driving practices, vehicle inspection procedures, and applicable traffic and transportation regulations. Ability to safely load, unload, transport, and secure materials, supplies, food, equipment, mail, and other District property. Ability to operate material-handling equipment, carts, pallet jacks, and other equipment related to the position; ability to obtain forklift certification if required by the District. Able to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods and under unfavorable weather conditions. Ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English and establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, vendors, delivery personnel, and the public. Ability to use computers, mobile devices, email, computerized maintenance/ticketing systems, and other technology related to the position. Ability to follow established delivery routes, schedules, procedures, and instructions while adapting to changing priorities and operational needs. Ability to safely and securely handle money, U.S. Mail, confidential materials, and other sensitive District property. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and complete assigned routes and deliveries within established timelines. Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, sound judgment, and ability to work independently with limited direct supervision; consistently follows assigned schedules and routes, completes deliveries accurately, and promptly communicates delays, discrepancies, or safety concerns. POSITION OVERVIEW: The District Delivery Driver is responsible for the safe, efficient, and timely transportation and delivery of materials, supplies, food, mail, equipment, and other items between District facilities. This position supports the day-to-day operations of the District by completing established and assigned delivery routes, loading and unloading materials, receiving and distributing deliveries, and ensuring District vehicles and transported materials are handled safely and appropriately. During school breaks, non-attendance days, and other periods when regular delivery needs are reduced, this position functions as a member of the Grounds team and assists with grounds maintenance and seasonal operations. The District Delivery Driver works independently and collaboratively with Buildings & Grounds personnel, school staff, Food Services, vendors, and other District departments to ensure materials and resources are delivered accurately, securely, and in support of District operations. REPORTS TO: Buildings & Grounds Day Supervisor ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Safely and efficiently operate District delivery vehicles while completing established and assigned delivery routes between District facilities within designated timelines. Transport and deliver District materials, supplies, equipment, food, interschool and U.S. Mail, confidential materials, and other items as assigned. Load and unload District vehicles and safely move, secure, and transport materials using carts, pallet jacks, forklifts, and other appropriate material-handling equipment.
