POSITION TITLE: Distribution Warehouse Manager

RESPONSIBLE TO: Senior Manager of Operations

HRS PER WEEK: 40 hrs./wk. with some weekends and evening hours

CLASS: Exempt

COMPENSATION: $63,900 - $65,700, depending on experience

BENEFITS: Eligible for health, vision, and dental insurance the first of the month following 30 days of employment with other benefits eligibility after a 90-day mutual introductory period is completed.

The main responsibilities of this position include overall management of FFLC’s West Broadway warehouse operations to ensure the timely and efficient movement of donated food. This position provides supervision to warehouse staff, and volunteers, ensures that food is handled safely and accurately tracked and distributed, and is a main customer service representative for donors and partner agencies.


PRIMARY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:


Supervision of Staff and Volunteers

  • Promotes a positive work environment grounded in FFLC’s values of compassion, inclusion, and collaboration; leads by example
  • Hires, trains, supervises, and supports a team of Operations staff
  • Provides coaching, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities
  • Supervises and supports volunteers with a wide range of abilities and experience

Warehouse Operations and Inventory Management

  • Ensures timely and efficient movement of donated products
  • Oversees order builds for partner agencies and allocation of perishable products
  • Maintains accurate inventory control, data tracking, and record-keeping systems
  • Completes daily and monthly inventory control procedures
  • Maintains files and required documentation related to food distribution and donations

Food Safety and Compliance

  • Ensures safe food handling practices at all times
  • Maintains compliance with OSHA, Oregon Food Bank, OHA, and other applicable regulations
  • Ensures regular cleaning and sanitation of all workspaces
  • Reports maintenance or equipment needs as they arise

Coordination and Communication

  • Works closely with the Bailey Hill Warehouse Manager, Food Resourcing team, and Programs teams to determine product feasibility, storage, and distribution
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service and communication with donors, volunteers, and partners
  • Keeps appropriate team members informed of operational changes

OTHER TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attends all required meetings
  • Engages in ongoing process improvement, planning and development with other FFLC staff
  • Works collaboratively with the Bailey Hill Warehouse Manager to cross-train enough department staff to ensure that all warehouse positions have backup coverage
  • Operates and maintains warehouse equipment and company vehicles in a safe manner
  • Maintains general organization and cleanliness both inside the warehouse as well as the outer parking lot and dock areas
  • Represents Food for Lane County to the public with knowledge and respect
  • Maintains neat and clean personal appearance
  • Performs other tasks as requested

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS: We value all forms of experience including, unpaid work, lived experience, education, and training.


  • Education and/or training relevant to the position, particularly experience with warehousing, people management, and food safety
  • At least three years’ experience working in a supervisory capacity
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard office equipment
  • Experience with inventory control systems & procedures; demonstrates sound inventory tracking and record-keeping skills
  • Ability to learn Primarius, a food inventory system and other software
  • Experience with facilities and equipment management preferred
  • Able to follow standard procedures and creatively solve problems when needed
  • Ability to safely perform strenuous and repetitive physical labor, frequently lifting up to 50 pounds repetitively and occasionally lifting and moving objects up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to safely push and pull pallets up to 2,000 pounds while operating a pallet jack
  • Must be able to operate vehicles, forklifts and other material handling equipment
  • Able to supervise volunteers with a wide range of abilities and experience
  • Exhibits compassion and respect for the recipients of FFLC’s services
  • Able to simultaneously oversee multiple activities and responsibilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Hold a current Food Handlers Card, or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire
  • Must have a valid Oregon’s Driver’s license and qualify for insurance coverage with Food for Lane County’s insurance carrier

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work is typically performed in an office/warehouse environment, with occasional off-site food drive attendance in all types of settings
  • Assists as a back-up driver and in the warehouse, performing strenuous and repetitive physical labor
  • Occasional requirement to work outside of regular hours, such as evenings and weekends
