Distribution Centre Lead POSITION: Distribution Centre Lead Reports to: Distribution Centre Supervisor Direct reports: None Hours : Full-time Hourly Parenting is hard, and everyone wants the best for their children. At Snuggle Bugz, we instill confidence in parents navigating the early stages of parenthood, and that confidence depends on the right product arriving at the right place on time. Our Distribution Centre ships web orders directly to our friends (customers) and keeps six stores across Ontario and BC stocked through daily transfers. We handle bulky, high-consequence products like car seats, strollers and cribs, so accuracy matters: a correct shipment is a parent with the right car seat before baby arrives. As Distribution Centre Lead, you are the senior person on the floor for your shift. You keep receiving, picking and shipping moving, check the quality of the team’s work, and coach Associates on doing it right and doing it safely. When the Supervisor is off site, you run the shift. The Supervisor remains accountable for overall DC performance, staffing and people management; you make it happen on the floor. This role is a natural next step for experienced Distribution Centre Associates, and we encourage internal candidates to apply. REQUIREMENTS 1+ year of warehouse or distribution centre experience in receiving, picking or shipping Highly organized, able to juggle receiving, picking and transfer priorities within the same shift Clear written and verbal communication, including with Purchasing and Retail teams A strong eye for detail and a commitment to finishing the job right Experience with purchase order receiving and shipment management is an asset Experience with an ERP or warehouse management system (we use BlueLink and Shopify) is an asset Basic Excel skills are an asset Able to regularly lift and move items up to 50 lbs, and team-lift heavier items such as furniture and strollers Experience training others or acting as a lead hand is an asset Comfortable using a computer and handheld scanner for receiving, picking and transfers Forklift licence required, in-house training may be provided A valid G licence held for a minimum of 5 years, with a clean driving record Able to travel to other Snuggle Bugz locations occasionally RESPONSIBILITIES Make sure all web orders and store transfers due that day are picked accurately and shipped Make sure all inbound purchase orders are received accurately and on time, following our receiving guidelines Assign picking, packing and shipping work to Associates on your shift, adjusting as priorities change Check outbound orders and transfers for accuracy before they leave the building Flag receiving discrepancies, damages and system issues to the Supervisor or Purchasing for resolution Answer Associates’ questions and help them work through roadblocks Audit receiving, put-away and picks; correct errors and identify the root cause so they don’t repeat Lead assigned cycle counts and support annual inventory Give the Supervisor input on Associate performance and development; the Supervisor handles scheduling, time off, appraisals and discipline Communicate process changes to the team and help put them in place Train new and existing Associates on standard operating procedures, systems and safe work practices Keep the DC clean, organized and up to housekeeping standards Model safe work practices and coach the team to follow them, in line with Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) procedures Run the shift as the senior person on site when the Supervisor is not present Open and secure the building at the start or end of the day when scheduled Act as a backup for the Logistics Specialist role, covering absences and peak periods as needed Additional duties and responsibilities may be added or modified as required throughout the course of your employment Snuggle Bugz provides accommodations for applicants with disabilities, available o…
