Apex SupplyThe Distribution Center Manager oversees the overall operations of a distribution center including managing staff, coordinating shipments, ensuring safety standards, and implementing efficient processes to maximize productivity and minimize cost. Reports directly to the President. Duties/Responsibilities Responsible for the overall leadership, management, and performance of all Distribution Center operations, ensuring efficient, accurate, and safe execution of daily activities. Oversees the organization and storage of material in coordination with the Inbound Distribution Lead, including home locations, overstock locations, and the consistent execution of the down-stocking program. Ensures all Purchase Orders (POs) are fully received into the system within 8 hours of arrival at the Distribution Center. Ensures all received material is properly stocked and placed in its designated location within 8 hours of being received into the system. Plans and coordinates the movement of transferred material throughout the company to meet branch and customer needs, while identifying efficient shipment methods, transportation routes, and transfer schedules. Oversees the Distribution Center Will Call pickup function, ensuring customer orders are accurately prepared, organized, and ready for timely pickup while maintaining a professional and efficient customer experience. Communication is key. Oversees the Distribution Center inventory accuracy program, including the execution of the cycle count program, investigation and resolution of inventory discrepancies, and implementation of corrective actions to improve and maintain inventory accuracy. Oversees fleet and vehicle maintenance for the Distribution Center, including the tracking and coordination of required repairs, preventative maintenance, and service needs. Oversees the consistent execution of Short Shipped Reporting and Location Audit processes, ensuring discrepancies are identified, investigated, and addressed in a timely manner. Provides leadership, training, and ongoing direction to Distribution Center staff while fostering a culture of accountability, urgency, initiative, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Collaborates cross-functionally with Distribution Center staff, Branch Managers and branch personnel, Purchasing, drivers, and company leadership to identify and correct the root causes of inventory variances and align Distribution Center operations with broader company objectives. Maintains a strong focus on workplace safety and ensures Distribution Center employees followestablished safety procedures, including proper lifting and material-handling practices. Ensures warehouse areas are maintained in a clean, organized, and safe condition to minimize trip, slip, fall, and other workplace hazards. Holds the Distribution Center team accountable for established operating procedures, productivity expectations, inventory accuracy standards, and service levels while proactively identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and execution. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction). Ability to effectively communicate and share information in a concise professional manner either verbally or through written correspondence. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and/or related software. Excellent time management skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize projects and meet deadlines. Demonstrates acute attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong reasoning, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Initiative is driven with a bias for action. Demonstrates ability to work well with others in a team environment. Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent.
