Role Description The Dispatcher Transport role is a full-time, on-site position based in Burlington, ON. The dispatcher is responsible for planning and assigning routes, scheduling drivers and vehicles, and monitoring trips to ensure on-time pickups and deliveries. Day-to-day tasks include managing dispatch software and communication tools, responding to driver and customer inquiries, and updating load and vehicle status in real time. The role also involves resolving operational issues, coordinating with maintenance or operations teams when delays occur, and keeping accurate records of routes, hours, and transport documentation. The dispatcher collaborates with colleagues to optimize fleet utilization, maintain safety and compliance standards, and deliver consistent service to clients.
Qualifications
• Experience in transportation dispatch, logistics coordination, or a similar operational role in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple routes, calls, and tasks effectively.
• Proficiency with dispatch or fleet management software, basic computer skills (email, spreadsheets), and comfort working with digital tools.
• Clear and professional communication skills for working with drivers, customers, and internal teams, including conflict resolution and problem-solving.
• Knowledge of local and regional routes, basic transportation regulations, and safety practices; experience in Ontario transport operations is an asset.
• Ability to work on-site in Burlington, ON, with flexibility to support varying schedules or peak periods as required.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in recordkeeping, documentation, and reporting related to trips, loads, and vehicle activity.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training in logistics, transportation management, or related fields is an advantage.
