Dispatcher (Schools)

Duties Coordinate and schedule daily routes for school buses using transportation management systems and vehicle dispatch software. Communicate with drivers via multi-line phone systems, GPS, and radio to provide real-time updates and support. Monitor vehicle locations through GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and GPS technology to optimize routing efficiency. Manage incoming calls from schools, parents, drivers, and staff with professionalism and courtesy, adhering to phone etiquette standards. Ensure compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and safety protocols during dispatching processes. Maintain accurate records of shipments, vehicle logs, driver hours, and student attendance using data entry tools like Oracle Transportation Management and AS400. Collaborate with internal teams on logistics planning, shipping & receiving schedules, and 3PL (Third-Party Logistics) providers to ensure seamless operations. Skills Strong knowledge of road transportation operations, logistics, and transportation planning principles. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) for documentation and reporting tasks. Experience with transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management or similar platforms like Vehicle Dispatch Software. Excellent analysis skills to interpret GPS data, GIS mapping tools, and operational metrics for decision-making. Effective communication skills for clear phone call management and internal coordination across departments. Exceptional organizational skills to handle multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Familiarity with DOT regulations governing school bus operations and freight transport safety standards. Ability to perform data entry accurately while maintaining attention to detail in all dispatching activities.
