Dispatcher – Plumbing & HVAC

Are you organized, quick to respond, and comfortable keeping track of several moving pieces? Can you handle a schedule change while making sure customers and technicians know what happens next? Kay Plumbing, Heating & Cooling is looking for a dependable Dispatcher to help coordinate daily service calls and keep our field team moving efficiently. Serving Lexington and the greater Columbia area since 2008, we’re looking for someone who takes pride in following through and helping customers receive timely service. You’ll work closely with a small service team, where your communication and decisions make a direct difference throughout the day. What you’ll do Build and maintain the daily plumbing and HVAC service schedule. Assign calls based on technician availability, location, and service needs. Track job progress and adjust the schedule when appointments run longer or urgent calls come in. Give customers clear updates about arrival times, delays, and appointment changes. Keep technicians informed of assignments, job details, and scheduling updates. Answer customer calls professionally and help book service appointments. Record accurate customer information, job notes, and follow-up needs. Coordinate with the office and field teams so important details reach the right person. Assist with customer service and other office responsibilities as needed. What makes someone successful here You don’t need to know every plumbing or HVAC term on your first day. You do need to communicate clearly, pay attention to details, and stay focused when priorities change. We’re looking for someone who: Shows up consistently and arrives on time. Our technicians and customers depend on this position being ready each morning. Stays calm and professional during busy periods. Takes ownership of tasks and follows through without repeated reminders. Notices scheduling conflicts and works to resolve them. Can move between phone calls, computer work, and team communication accurately. Is comfortable learning scheduling software and keeping records current. Treats customers and coworkers with patience and respect. Previous experience in dispatching, appointment scheduling, customer service, or a call center is preferred. Experience with a plumbing, HVAC, electrical, or other service company is especially helpful but not necessary. What we offer $16.00–$18.00 per hour. Full-time, year-round employment.
