Job Overview As a Heavy Duty Diesel Service Shop Dispatcher, you’ll coordinate repair work between customers, service writers, and technicians. You’ll help keep shop operations moving by assigning jobs, tracking progress, and communicating clear updates. Your impact: Timely, accurate dispatching helps customers get their trucks back into service and gives technicians the information they need to complete repairs. Responsibilities Schedule and dispatch service work based on repair needs, technician availability, and shop priorities. Coordinate customer updates, service writing, estimates, and approvals; identify appropriate opportunities for upselling. Track work orders and repair progress using estimating software and other shop computer systems. Support estimates for automotive repair, collision repair, auto body repair, and computer-aided vehicle damage estimating when applicable. Help coordinate vehicle maintenance and service such as transmissions, oil changes, air brakes, suspension, tires, shocks and struts, and brake repair; handle cash transactions as needed. Requirements Strong customer service, client communication, organization, and computer skills. Mechanical knowledge; mechanic or service technician experience is helpful, as is dealership experience. Familiarity with heavy duty truck diagnostics, service, service management, estimating, and service writing is preferred. Sales or upselling experience and knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair are helpful. Previous service writing or dispatching are preferred.
