Responsibilities Coordinate vehicle dispatching by assigning drivers to routes based on real-time GPS data, traffic conditions, and delivery priorities. Utilize transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management or vehicle dispatch software to track shipments, update statuses, and optimize routes. Communicate effectively with drivers via multi-line phone systems and internal communication platforms to provide instructions, updates, and support. Manage phone call inquiries from clients, drivers, and vendors with professional phone etiquette while providing accurate information regarding shipments or schedules. Enter data accurately into logistics databases, ensuring all shipment details are recorded in compliance with DOT regulations and company standards. Monitor road transportation operations to ensure timely deliveries while adhering to safety standards and regulations. Collaborate with supply chain teams to coordinate shipping & receiving schedules, freight movements, and fleet management activities for maximum efficiency. Requirements Proven experience in dispatching within transportation planning or logistics environments; familiarity with road transportation operations is highly preferred. Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively across multiple lines of communication and data entry tasks. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel and Word; experience with transportation management systems like Oracle Transportation Management is a plus. Knowledge of GPS technology, GIS mapping tools, vehicle dispatch software, and freight tracking systems. Excellent communication skills—both verbal and written—and professional phone etiquette for managing multi-line phone systems. Ability to analyze operational data to improve routing efficiency and troubleshoot issues promptly. Understanding of DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations related to vehicle dispatching, safety standards, and driver hours-of-service rules. Strong attention to detail with accurate data entry skills; ability to work under pressure in fast-paced environments.
