ConfidentialTransportation Dispatcher Job Summary: The Transportation Dispatcher will coordinate and schedule drivers for pick-up and drop-off in a safe, efficient, and timely manner. Supervisory Responsibilities: None. Duties / Responsibilities: Oversees equipment availability; assigns drivers, and extra drivers when needed. Anticipates weather complications along routes and at the driver’s destinations. Communicates delays and route changes, as necessary. Complete and verify Greyhound transactions. Effectively Communicates with riders and callers and with meeting their needs. Provides Pre-Trip information to all drivers for the following days route. Schedules drivers for pick-up and drop-off; selects most efficient routes for each driver. Maintains phone contact with drivers; receives and dispatches responses and emergency aid when needed. Maintains and reviews daily fares reconciliation; monitors daily logs for errors and / or compliance violations. Maintains and reviews daily the previous route sheets and validates the rides and mileage of the route. Monitors drivers working hours to ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations. Reviews maintenance and repair schedules for vehicles. Collect data and reports from the operating system. Performs other related duties as assigned. Strong organizational skills to prepare and assign routes. Strong leadership skills to ensure drivers compliance with direction and assignments. Basic understanding of geographical areas and mapping programs to facilitate efficient routing. Proficient with or able to quickly learn dispatch and recordkeeping systems. Ability to work at a fast pace and under pressure. Ability to problem solve. Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in Transportation, Logistics, or related field preferred. At least three years of related experience and execution of similar duties. Physical Requirements: Must pass a drug (including alcohol) screening. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to fifteen (15) pounds at times.
