Role Description The Dispatcher is a full-time, on-site role based in Rising Sun, MD and after hours for driver support with a company supplied phone. This position is responsible for coordinating daily driver schedules, assigning loads, and monitoring the status of shipments to ensure on-time pick-ups and deliveries. The Dispatcher communicates regularly with drivers, customers, and internal teams to provide updates, resolve issues, and adjust routes as needed. Daily tasks include managing dispatch software, tracking equipment and driver availability, maintaining accurate records of trips and loads, and responding to calls and messages in a timely manner. The role also involves supporting compliance with company policies, safety standards, and transportation regulations while helping optimize routes and resource utilization. Qualifications Experience in dispatching, transportation, or logistics operations, with the ability to coordinate multiple drivers and loads efficiently. Strong communication and customer service skills for interacting with drivers, clients, and internal staff in a professional, clear manner. Proficiency with our custom internal dispatch or transportation management software, basic computer skills (email, spreadsheets), and accurate data entry. Solid organizational and time-management abilities, including prioritizing tasks, handling urgent issues, and maintaining detailed records. Problem-solving skills and sound judgment to manage schedule changes, route adjustments, and unexpected delays calmly and effectively. Knowledge of basic DOT transportation regulations, safety practices, and geographic familiarity with the region is beneficial. Ability to work on-site in Rising Sun, MD, and after hours for driver support. High school diploma or equivalent required; prior experience in trucking, freight, or related fields is preferred but not mandatory. Possess a valid Class A CDL license is preferred but not required.
