Dispatcher - Air Freight (11 AM - 8 PM, Mon-Fri)

About Silver Lion Silver Lion is an air freight trucking company serving the Dulles, Charlottesville and Richmond markets for some of the biggest names in air cargo. We have held our own federal authority since 2014. We are also building something most trucking companies are not: our own technology. We are rolling out smart tools that take the busywork off the dispatch desk so our people can spend their time on drivers and customers. The Role We are looking for an experienced dispatcher for our afternoon and evening shift. This is a communication-heavy job: most of your day is spent talking with drivers and keeping shipment statuses up to date. You will be the link between our drivers, our customers, customer service and the warehouse, keeping freight moving and everyone informed. What You Will Do - Stay in constant contact with drivers by phone and text throughout their shifts, and solve problems as they come up - Keep every shipment status current in our system all day: dispatched, picked up, delivered, delayed - Send customers timely status updates on their pickups and deliveries, including any delays, before they have to ask - Assign pickups and deliveries and build efficient routes so freight is recovered and delivered on time - Reroute drivers around traffic, construction, accidents and last-minute changes - Handle driver calls and send any emergency to the right people right away - Close out the day cleanly: proof of delivery, paperwork and a clear handoff for the morning - Work alongside our new digital dispatch and AI assistant tools, and tell us what helps and what does not What We Are Looking For - At least 1 year of dispatch experience (air freight trucking dispatch preferred) - Strong knowledge of Northern Virginia, Maryland and DC roads - Calm under pressure, able to multitask, sharp attention to detail - Clear, friendly communication by phone, text and email - Bilingual English and Spanish is a big plus - Comfortable with computers and open to learning new software - Punctual and dependable - High school diploma or equivalent Where This Can Go We are growing, and we promote from within.
