Dispatcher

Job Overview As a Dispatcher, you’ll coordinate road transportation operations and keep freight moving smoothly from pickup through delivery. You’ll use dispatching tools, transportation management systems, and clear communication to connect drivers, customers, and internal teams. Your work supports reliable service across logistics, supply chain, shipping, and receiving activities. Responsibilities Schedule and assign vehicles and drivers using vehicle dispatch software and transportation management systems; monitor routes with GPS (Global Positioning System) and GIS (Geographic Information System) tools. Manage multi-line phone systems, handle phone calls with professional phone etiquette, and provide responsive customer service. Coordinate freight, shipping and receiving, and fleet management needs; communicate schedule changes and service issues to internal teams and customers. Complete accurate data entry, typing, and shipment records in systems such as Oracle Transportation Management, SyteLine, or AS400. Apply transportation planning and analysis skills to resolve delays and support efficient dispatching. Your impact: Timely coordination helps drivers stay informed and customers receive clear updates about their shipments. Requirements Strong communication, phone communication, organizational, and analysis skills; able to manage competing priorities accurately. Experience or familiarity with road transportation operations, transportation management, logistics, supply chain, or 3PL (third-party logistics). Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and transportation management systems; experience with Oracle Transportation Management, SyteLine, AS400, or vehicle dispatch software is useful. Familiarity with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations, GPS, GIS, fleet management, and freight operations is preferred.
