Role Description The Dispatcher role at HOMELAND 1 LOGISTICS LLC is a full-time, on-site or remote position located in Newark, NJ. The dispatcher is responsible for coordinating drayage and intermodal daily transportation schedules, assigning loads to drivers, and monitoring routes to ensure on-time delivery. This role involves communicating regularly with drivers, customers, and internal teams to provide updates, resolve issues, and adjust plans as needed. The dispatcher will track shipments, maintain accurate records in dispatch systems, and ensure compliance with company policies and relevant transportation regulations. The position also includes handling incoming calls and messages, prioritizing urgent requests, and supporting a safe and efficient operational environment. Qualifications Strong organizational and time-management skills to coordinate multiple routes, drivers, and delivery schedules. MUST BE BILINGUAL AND HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH THE NY&NJ PORT TERMINALS Excellent verbal and written communication skills for working with drivers, customers, and internal staff. Basic computer and data entry skills, including familiarity with dispatch or transportation management software. Ability to remain calm under pressure, solve problems quickly, and make sound decisions in changing situations. Knowledge of transportation and logistics operations, including routing, scheduling, and regulatory considerations (prior experience in trucking or freight dispatch is a plus). Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation, record-keeping, and reporting. High level of reliability, professionalism, and customer service orientation. High school diploma or equivalent required; additional coursework or certification in logistics or transportation is beneficial. Ability to work on-site in Newark, NJ, with flexibility for shifts that may include early mornings, evenings, or weekends based on operational needs.
