TRUCK DISPATCHER Jimmy's Trucking, a 75 year old family run company is located in South Plainfield, NJ is a leading transportation provider in the fragrance and flavor industry. Do to increasing our driver count, we have a new opening for another dispatcher. We are currently seeking to hire a reliable Dispatcher for our warehouse/terminal facility. The primary role of truck dispatcher is to plan and coordinate all container shipments picked up out of Piers and/or Container Freight Stations (CFS). Overall responsibility for coordinating and managing the inbound/outbound schedules of independent contractor drivers to ensure containers are delivered/picked up. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Coordinate containers moves in/out of the Newark ports. Setting up pick up and return appointments with appointment based terminals. Coordinating the pick up and return of containers to ocean terminals. Serves as a reliable point of contact for customers and drivers. Monitor truck movements via GPS software system. Monitor wait time of drivers and apply charges accordingly. Communicate changes/additions in schedules to drivers. Tracking and tracing of equipment to minimize demurrage and per diem costs. Address problems and requests by transmitting information or providing solutions. Keeps tabs on the weather at all drivers' delivery/pickup locations to be able to flag potential issues. Communicates with customers with the proper documents and shipment information QUALIFICATIONS: 2+ years proven experience in trucking dispatch or courier service. Prior experience in prioritizing work activities and managing multiple tasks simultaneously within set deadlines and timelines Active listener with excellent communication skill. Sound judgement and critical thinking. Able to remain calm in stressful situations. Knowledge of administrative operations like typing, scanning documents, data entry, Microsoft Office Suite High school diploma or better.
