Dispatcher

Job Overview As a Dispatcher, you’ll coordinate road transportation operations and keep freight moving smoothly from planning through delivery. You’ll use dispatch tools, transportation management systems, and clear communication to connect drivers, customers, and internal teams. Your work supports reliable service across logistics, supply chain, shipping, and receiving activities. Duties Schedule and dispatch vehicles, coordinate routes, and adjust plans as conditions change, using GPS and geographic information systems (GIS) where available. Manage incoming calls on multi-line phone systems; provide responsive customer service and communicate updates to drivers, customers, and internal teams. Enter and verify shipment, vehicle, and delivery details; maintain accurate records using Microsoft Office and dispatch or transportation management software. Coordinate freight, fleet activity, and shipping and receiving needs while following applicable Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Review schedules and operational data to identify issues and support effective transportation planning. Your impact: Timely dispatch decisions help drivers stay coordinated and customers receive clear, dependable shipment updates. Requirements Strong communication, phone etiquette, organizational, analysis, typing, and data-entry skills; able to manage multiple priorities with accuracy. Experience or familiarity with dispatching, road transportation operations, logistics, transportation management, supply chain, or freight coordination. Comfort using Microsoft Office, GPS, vehicle dispatch software, and transportation management systems; Oracle Transportation Management and SyteLine experience are preferred. Familiarity with third-party logistics (3PL), fleet management, and shipping and receiving is an asset. Able to communicate professionally by phone and work collaboratively with customers, drivers, and internal partners.
