Job Overview We are seeking an experienced Dispatcher to support overnight delivery operations for a growing distribution operation in Capitol Heights, Maryland. The Dispatcher will coordinate with drivers throughout the night, resolve delivery and routing issues, monitor fleet activity, and ensure that transportation operations run safely and efficiently. This position is ideal for someone with experience in dispatching, fleet operations, transportation logistics, or delivery coordination. Candidates should be comfortable working overnight shifts and adjusting to operational needs, including weekends, holidays, and overtime. Key Responsibilities Coordinate and support drivers throughout overnight delivery operations. Resolve delivery delays, equipment issues, routing problems, and customer service concerns. Monitor driver locations, routes, and delivery progress using fleet tracking systems. Use Samsara to monitor fleet activity and support transportation operations. Review driver logs, route times, and timekeeping records for accuracy. Verify driver paperwork, vehicle inspection reports, and required documentation. Investigate customer complaints and communicate resolutions to the appropriate teams. Support driver safety initiatives and enforce company policies. Ensure compliance with applicable Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) requirements. Maintain accurate overnight reports and documentation. Coordinate with management to ensure a smooth transition between overnight and daytime operations. Follow temperature-sensitive transportation and cold-chain procedures. Qualifications At least 3 years of experience in dispatching, transportation, vehicle routing, or logistics. Experience using Samsara is required. Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications. Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Attention to detail and the ability to work independently. Ability to communicate effectively with drivers, management, and other operational teams. Experience working in a union environment is preferred. A Class A or Class B commercial driver's license is a plus. High school diploma or equivalent required. Compensation and Benefits Annual salary of $52,000–$57,000. Full-time position. Four 10-hour shifts may be available, depending on operational needs. Work Schedule The schedule depends on operational requirements. Available arrangements may include four 10-hour shifts, five 8-hour shifts, or other rotating schedules. Overnight shifts may be required. Candidates must be willing to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed. Work Environment This is an on-site position in Capitol Heights, Maryland. The work environment includes warehouse and loading dock areas, exposure to varying temperatures, and regular interaction with transportation personnel.
